Next Project

We decided we would work on a different project. There's a few things different with this one.
  • We are printing the words on the board instead of just using the EL-wire by its self.
  • We raised all of the letters so that we can have a better effect with the EL-wire.
  • We have made it with animations.
  • We are using two different colors of wire.
  1. We started with a 2 foot by 6 foot piece of plywood. We cut the plywood into the shape that we needed it to be.
  2. Then on one part of the plywood we painted it white, that's where the letters are going to end up being placed.
  3. We then printed the letters Each letter had there own sheet of paper.
  4. We cut out the letters with scissors and an Exacto knife.
  5. After we had all of the letters cut out we positioned the letters to test fit where they would be placed. Its a good thing we did because we made the letters too big. We still decided to use them anyways.
  6. We then took them and sprayed them with glue (SprayMount Artist's Adhesive). This is not a permanent glue so we can remove the paper letters later. We then put the letters back onto the piece of plywood. We had to make sure all of the edges were down so that the paint wouldn't get underneath them.
  7. We then used black spray paint to paint over the paper letters. We had to wait a wile for the paint to dry.
  8. After the paint was dry we removed the paper letters from the board. After we took off the spray painted paper the underneath was completely white. A little bit of paint got underneath the paper so we had to touch it up after words.
  9. We then painted the rest of the board black with a roller on both sides.
